Calendar for Sun., Sep. 29, 2019

Today is September 29 – there are 185 days left until Census 2020 begins.  Every household will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 census.  In Warm Springs since we don’t have mail delivered to our homes – a census worker will bring you an invitation to participate starting on April 1st.

  • Simansho Sunday Washut Services will start up again today at the Simnasho Longhouse.
  • Warm Springs Christian Fellowship meets this morning at 10 at the Senior Center.
  • The Warm Springs Baptist Church has Sunday School at 10:00 and Worship Service at 11:00 this morning.
  • The Warm Springs Food Bank is located at the Presbyterian Church. They are open from 11:30-1:30 today after church services.  All food banks and pantries do take donations of non-perishable food or cash

3 Warriors Market in Simnasho has moved to their fall and winter hours.  Monday thru Thursday the are open 7am – 7pm.  Friday’s hours are 7am – 6pm.  On the weekend – 3 Warriors is open 8am – 6pm.

Monday 9/30

There will be a meeting of the KWSO Community Advisory Board tomorrow at 3pm here at the Warm Springs Media Center.  The meeting is open to the public.

The Warm Springs Behavioral Health Center offers intake sessions weekly as a first step to identifying your needs.  Intake Orientations are held Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 1:30-2:30 each week.  To learn more you can call Behavioral Health at 541-553-3205.

There will be a Wana Pa Koot Koot Elders Tour this Wednesday – that will meet and start at 9am at The Dalles Dam Visitor Center.  They will visit The Dalles Petroglyph, Columbia Hills State Park and Pear Paw Rock.

Volunteers are now being recruited for the Warm Springs Tribes 2020 Point in Time Survey.  The survey is an annual effort to identify the number of people in our community that do not have a stable, safe and secure place to live – including those temporarily living with family or friends.  Doing the annual count helps with planning and brining resources to address housing needs.  There will be a Volunteer Information Session on this Tuesday at 5:30pm the Tribal Social Services Building in the Industrial Park.  Contact Buffy Hurtado to learn more at 541-615-0141.

The Museum at Warm Springs is accepting artwork for the 2019 Tribal member Art Exhibit.  Artwork is being accepted through Friday October 4th.  The Exhibit will open on October 24th.  Contact Natalie at the Museum if you have any questions.

A thunderstorm event on August 10th this year caused flash flooding that may have washed out livestock fence.  Producers suffering sever fence damage due to this storm event may be eligible for assistance under the USDA Emergency Conservation Program.  To request assistance contact the Central Oregon FSA office at 541-923-4358.  Sign up is October 1st thru October 30th.

The Johnson O’Malley Committee for Warm Springs Families is now accepting Applications for the fall activity allowance.  This can be for activities such as Rodeo, Dance, Sports, Camps, etc.  You can pick up an application at the Higher Education Office upstairs at the Education Building or online packets can be downloaded at www.kwso.org.  The deadline to apply is Monday September 30th.

Madras Football and Girls Basketball will benefit from a 4 person golf scramble tournament on October 12th at Desert Peaks in Madras.  Please sign up by October 5th by talking with Coach Taylor, Coach Say or Coach David.
