Flu Season is upon us and during last night’s Open House at Warm Springs K thru 8 Academy the line was steady for Flu Shots offered by Warm Springs Community Health. The vaccinations were offered to families, students, teachers and community members as part of the effort to keeping yourself healthy and keep from spreading the flu, Protecting the Circle of Life. Their next flu shot clinic is next Thur October 17th at Early Childhood Education between 3 and 5:30.

Hallways were busy last night at the Warm Springs K thru 8 Academy during open house.  Families visited teachers in classrooms to learn about student progress and curriculum.  Families enjoyed a meal of beef stew with corn bread and an apple. For Madras High School students, open house is on November 13th from 4pm-7pm and November 14th at Warm Springs K8 Academy from 4:30pm-6:30pm according to principal Brian Crook. With the high school open house still a month away, Crook says families can get current information on their students now, by getting a log in for Power School. It gives access to the students progress, their grades, their attendance, anything else that’s going on with their student.

In Metolious, a recall of Mayor John Chavez passed Tuesday Night by a vote of 118 to 65. Chavez was the subject of a recall after news broke this summer his legal troubles were more extreme than he’d reveled to his constituents. As reported in the Bend Bulletin, Chavez downplayed recent arrests for DUII and assault. Former Metolious Mayer Carl Elliott, who is city council president will assume the mayor’s position at next month’s council meeting.

Locally: Madras Volleyball went on the road yesterday to Corbett and dropped the contest 3 matches to none. In Soccer, the Lady Buffs traveled to Estacada and came out with a 4-0 victory. Buff Boys soccer hosted Estacada and pulled out the Victory 4-0 over the Rangers.
